Associate Designer - Swimwear



G-III Apparel Group, the world's premier designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear, dresses, women's suits, sportswear and accessories, with a comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and wholly-owned brands, including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi’s, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. Bass, among others is seeking an associate to join the Tommy Hilfiger Swimwear team based in New York City.


  • Researching design concepts from magazines, runways, vintage, and from stores
  • Developing new ideas for silhouette, color, concept boards, and trims
  • Assisting with mood boards for design presentation
  • Assisting in sourcing fabric for each season
  • Developing new trims used by womens design team
  • Approving/commenting on color labdips for woven fabrics each season, for sample yardage, and bulk
  • Specing and creating initial technical packages
  • Assisting in fittings of garments and corrections for proto, show, and bulk stage developments
  • Creating line boards for line presentation
  • Dealing with print vendors and helping in choosing prints for each season
  • Provide reliable and responsible support to Senior Designer
  • Helping in setting up design room for management meetings each season
  • Day to day up keep of filing and organization



  • Between 2-5 years of experience in Swimwear
  • Ability to do research, pull tears, shop the market, fabric and trim research and development
  • Must be able to draw by hand as well as be very proficient on all Adobe platforms; illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign
  • Must be well versed at cadding
  • Must be able to put line lists together
  • Also must be comfortable with communication with overseas factories.
  • Comment on lab dips and trims from sampling to production
  • Must be able to create tech packs from beginning to end
  • Knowledge of the industry as well as being proactive is preferred
