Reporting to the VP of Design & Development for Calvin Klein Handbags & Accessories, the Hardware & Graphic Designer for Handbags & Accessories will create and design Hardware and Graphics for a competitive fashion handbag and small leathergoods product line that strikes a balance between relevant commercial product and brand right emotional fashion that will collectively grow the business according to the Calvin Klein brand strategic and financial objectives. Leverages expert design and conceptual skills with important ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts with in-depth knowledge of hardware techniques and construction. It is an exciting time to be a part of building a fashion relevant, brand aesthetic with a sharp viewpoint aimed at delighting the Calvin Klein customer.


  • Understand the Calvin Klein aesthetic and translate it into appropriate handbag-specific hardware and graphics for all printed materials
  • Develop new concepts for prints, logo and hardware for the iconic Calvin Klein brand of handbags and accessories
  • Own the hardware product design process from sketching through production with clear, daily communication with factories in Asia
  • Partner with Design team to create CAD images for ALL novelty and color blocking for the line
  • Research global markets to be aware of hardware trend and techniques; communicate trend direction to factories and China team
  • Maintain hardware and materials library in partnership with Materials Manager with keen attention to pricing and factory details
  • Create hardware design and specs, full tech packs on all new print/hardware layouts and hardware mechanics pre-prodiction revisions
  • Manage development and counter sourcing/counter pricing for all new hardware and printed materials

Success Profile:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience of handbag-specific hardware/jewelry design experience
  • Proven commercial success in women’s contemporary handbag HARDWARE and GRAPHIC design
  • Expert understanding of development process with technical skill proficiency using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Demonstrated ability to sketch technical handbag HARDWARE drawings for varied constructions spanning ALL categories
  • Critical ability to executive technical design packages with translation of all details for factory execution including corrections
  • Collaborate with Product Development team for critical review and approval of pre-production and top of production samples
  • Strong fashion sense and the critical ability to identify and interpret trends and translate runway aesthetic to commercial success
  • Keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to take independent action to achieve objectives
  • Manage confirmation sample approval process to meet 2-week post market time and action standard
  • Confident, capable, highly effective cross-functional written/verbal communication, teaming and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced, independent China-specific global traveler with flexibility to travel as business demands
  • Bachelor's or technical degree in Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, preferred or equivalent work experience
